AVG is a freee antivirus solution, offers comprehensive protection from most viruses, but not as good as the paid version. I reccomend this one if you are on a budget, but remember you get what you pay for!
Panda is also a gerat solution, but like Norton, it needs an Uninstaller to get it off of your machine completely. The one hting about Panda I do not like is over the last few years it has been known to not be as sensitive in detection as in the past. I only reccomend this solution to the expirienced Firewall/Anti-Virus configurator! another thing is the service that reminds you to upgrade or buy a new version is annoying, as it nags you to death in your email box!
Bit Defender is one I reccomend because of it's great update ability, it really sees the work you are doing and balances its updates based on the type of surfing you do. However this is also a solution for someone who knows more than the average bear about Firewalls and Anti-virus advanced settings!
Eset is my personal favotite and the solution I use myself. The footprint is low meaning you will never know it is running in the background, as it uses very few system resources. The other thing I love about this software is the fact that is does not bug you unless you want it to: you can choose interactive mode which alerts you to incoming or outgoing transmissions, or just leave it be and it will only bother you if there is a problem. This is highly recommended, and is more than sufficient!
McAfee is one of the better solutions, it is pretty simple to install and does not hog resources as much as some of the all in one suites. McAfee also is very easy to customize, even for the novice there are advanced settings that can easily be tweaked! If you have Comcast internet service, the complete suite is free when you go to their website and sign in!
